These resorts are impressive because of their ability to impress & entertain every member of the family… including those hard-to-please teens!
FIJI – Koro Sun Resort & Rainforest Spa
Koro Sun offers a nanny service for children aged three years and under. For older kids and teens, daily activities include rainforest hikes, an introduction to Fijian culture, Fijian arts and crafts, tidal pool exploration, snorkelling (for 7 years and older), t-shirt painting, coconut leaf weaving, and sand village construction.
FIJI – Beqa Lagoon Resort & Spa
Famous for its world-class diving, Beqa Lagoon is the perfect destination for teenagers who have an affinity with adventure and the magical world underneath the water. In addition to an annual diving program, dozens of kids descend on Beqa Island once a year to participate in the famous ‘Kids Sea Camp Fiji’. A diving event for families that want more than just a vacation, it’s an adventure that unites people from all around the world who share a common passion for the ocean.
FIJI – Toberua Island Resort
It might be a private island but there’s more to do at this resort than simply soaking up the sunshine. For adventurous teens with energy to burn, there’s snorkelling, sailing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, volleyball, and a nine hole par three reef golf course that’s only playable at low tide. For those who like to take things a little slower, the resort has a library, board games, basket weaving classes and coconut demonstrations.
MALDIVES – Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu
Through their ‘Go Eco’ program, the team at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu educate guests about the precious ocean that surrounds their island home. Kids can visit the island’s nesting site and rescue centre for endangered turtles; go on a guided tour with a biologist; or work with the marine biology team to restore the island’s lagoon by taking naturally broken pieces of coral and relocating them to areas where they’ll flourish.
SAMOA – Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa
Hosting guests ages 12 and above, Sinalei is an adventure wonderland and the ideal destination for older families. From weekly games of volleyball and rugby on the resort’s pristine beachfront, to activities further afield, including rainforest walks and waterfall treks, there’s plenty to keep young minds occupied. One of our favourite things to do is experience the fresh water spring that bubbles up at the end of the resort’s Ava I Toga pier.
COSTA RICA – Lapa Rios Lodge
There may be no TV or internet access at this 1,000-acre rainforest reserve but with frogs and monkeys to spot, beaches and waterfalls to swim at, and jungles to explore, there’s plenty of wildlife and adventure-geared activities to keep kids occupied. Best of all, they’ll learn firsthand about the importance of protecting the planet!
THAILAND – Soneva Kiri
One of the most family-friendly resorts in the world, Soneva Kiri in Thailand caters to children of all ages. For teenagers, they offer excursions and cultural exchanges to immerse younger Soneva guests in the destination and leave lasting impressions. Activities to be shared as a family abound, from dinners amidst the wilds to stolen chocolates from the free and endless supply in the chocolate room.
PS: Did you know? Soneva Kiri’s children’s room, ‘The Den’ is a giant moulded bamboo playground shaped like a manta ray, that is dedicated to learning, excitement and meaningful experiences. Professional child minders pique children’s imaginations, teaching them to play Thai instruments, unleashing their creative talents with painting and the visual arts, all in a truly magical setting. Their sister resort in the Maldives, Soneva Fushi, also has The Den!
