Five inspirational memories from Soneva Kiri...
I was lucky enough to spend a week at Soneva Kiri – our luxury resort in Ko Kood, Thailand. The experience was exceptional and I could talk about it until I’m as blue in the face as the water out the front of the resort, but here are my highlights…
The service is so seamless we suspect it was actually magic
For example, our water and wine glasses kept miraculously refilling; if we forgot to plug our golf buggy in to charge overnight (because of aforementioned wines), we’d wake up in the morning to find it charged and ready to go; and every time we took ourselves for a dip at North Beach, we’d return to our sun lounges to freshly-shaken towels without a grain of sand in sight.

North Beach bliss
The hosts are so sweet and genuinely caring that you’ll definitely cry when it’s time to leave
From the Mr & Ms Fridays to the gardeners, lifeguards, and every member of the restaurant team including the master sommelier, each interaction with a staff member left us feeling like we were the most important people in the world. We were almost offended when we realised that it wasn’t just us – that’s just how they all of their guests.
The food is unfathomably delicious and you would be wise to only pack pants with elastic waistbands
We tried every restaurant onsite and loved them all but our favourite experience was Benz; the resort’s open-air, lantern-lit restaurant set over the water on stilts that serves a nine-course Thai menu, which changes nightly. Also, I have dietary requirements and I’ve never been to a resort that caters so well to my inability to digest gluten – there was no chance of me going hungry!
Synchronised massaging should be an Olympic sport
We treated ourselves to an Ayurvedic Four-Hand Abhyanga Massage at Six Senses Spa, which was as logistically impressive as it was relaxing. The spa menu is so extensive it’s hard to select a treatment but that’s also a good thing because it means there’s something there to tickle everyone’s fancy (or feet… if that’s your thing).
This is a bona fide jungle jaunt
The island of Ko Kood has the smallest population of all districts in Thailand, so it is far less touristy and more private than other popular destinations. The resort is set on a prime patch of coastline where lush, untamed jungle meets the beach. Whether you’re cruising through the resort grounds on your buggy, eating high tea at Treepod Dining, or relaxing at the spa, your experience has been designed to not only blend with the natural surroundings but to showcase the beauty of Thailand’s ancient jungle.
